Brie Cheese, Caramelized Onions
And Apricot Bread Bowl Appetizer
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 medium sweet onion, sliced, about 1 cup
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 freshly baked Ecce Panis Rustico bread loaf
- Il'De France or brand of your choice 8 ounce "double creme style" brie cheese
- 4 Tbsp. apricot preserves
Directions

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium skillet melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and sugar. Cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions have carmelized. Set aside.
- Slice the top off the Rustico bread loaf and remove the top and save for a lid when baking. Hollow out enough of the bread to fit your piece of brie cheese into. Do not add the brie cheese at this time.
- Spread apricot preserves insidide the hollowed out bread loaf and on the bottom of the bread lid.e
- Add half the onions to the bread bowl, top with brie cheese and then add the remaining onions.
- Replace the bread top - lid and bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
- Cut into wedges to serve warm or at room temperature.
