Greek Turkey Burger

 Ingredients
    • 1 lb fresh ground turkey meat
    • 1 cup chopped firmly packed baby spinach greens, about 1 ounce
    • 1 tbsp Italian seasoned bread crumbs
    • 1 1/2 ounces crumbled feta cheese, about 1/2 cup
    • 1/4 tsp dried oregano leaves
    • 1/2 tsp cracked pepper blend spice
    • 1 tsp olive oil of your choice
    • 4 tbsp roasted red pepper hummus, divided
    • 4 leaves red leaf lettuce
    • 1 small cucumber, cut into 12 thin slices
    • 4 100% whole wheat pitas, slit/sliced horizontally
    • Cooking spray of your choice

     Directions

    1. Preheat grill on HIGH for 10 minutes.
    2. Combine ground turkey, baby spinach, bread crumbs, feta cheese, oregano, cracked pepper, and olive oil in mixing bowl. Form into 4 burgers.
    3. Clean grill with wire brush. Using soft cloth, coat grill grate lightly with vegetable oil or cooking spray. Place burgers on grill. Reduce heat to MEDIUM.
    4. Sear burgers on grill 2 minutes until they have changed color about one-quarter of way up from bottom. Turn over and sear 2-3 minutes on the other side. Turn again, reducing heat to MEDIUM or LOW. Close lid.
    5. Cook about 10 min until internal temp reaches 165 degrees, check by inserting thermometer halfway into thickest part of burgers. Transfer to clean platter and set aside.
    6. Top each burger with 1 Tbsp red pepper hummus, red leaf lettuce, and 3 slices thinly sliced cucumber. Place in pitas and serve.
